Book Reviews

“This book is fascinating and documents the life of his immigrant father, Daniel Steenstra, who was a Master Potter from a long line of Dutch potters who brought his skills to the benefit of his new country. This book is two books intertwined. Firstly, it tells the struggles of an immigrant attempting to retain his culture whilst also trying to integrate into his adopted country and secondly, it contains a wealth of information relating to pottery especially Crown Lynn Potteries. After finishing the book, the first thing that I told Dominicus was that he must send a copy to Daniel’s birthplace in the Netherlands, so they have a record of the impact of one of their sons on the pottery industry in a faraway land. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did”.
